The Introduction of Converter
Converter is used for steel blowing or sulfur blowing as a metallurgical furnace,its body can rotate. Converter furnace is made of steel plates,like a cylinder,refractory to be lining,the heat converting need was provided by the chemical reaction,without external heat source.It is important steelmaking equipment,can also be used for copper,nickel smelting.
According to the properties of the refractory,converter is divided into acid lined converter(lined with siliceous material) and basic lined converter(lined with magnesia or dolomite);according to the part gas into,converter is divided into bottom-blown converter,top-blown converter and side-blown converter;according to the gas adopted, converter is divided into air converter and oxygen converter.
Converter steelmaking is the main steelmaking method using liquid iron as raw material.Its main feature is:it makes the metal reaching the composition and temperature tapping steel required, it just use the physical heat of liquid pig iron and the heat from the chemical reaction of pig iron components(such as carbon,manganese,silicon,phosphorus) and oxygen blown into the furnace.The main burden are melted iron and slag material(such as lime,quartz,fluorite etc.),in order to adjust the temperature,you can add steel scrap,a small amount of cold pig iron and ore.
The converter is mainly composed of furnace body,transmission device,supporting device,open gear brush,universal joint,lubrication system.Converter has below advantages:high efficiency,easy operation,wide adaptation of raw materials,good working conditions etc..
In the non-ferrous smelting,converter is mainly used for disposing copper and nickel sulfide.Its feature is no fuel,just relying on the heat from the oxidation reaction of copper sulfide components(iron,sulfur) and air(or oxygen) blown into the furnace.
In recent years,the converter relying on fuel to provide heat gradually applied to other non-ferrous metal smelting,for example,lead and zinc sulfide ore dispose,smelting separation of precious metal(gold and silver),copper concentrate sulfur melting,refining crude copper etc..
Converter’s processing capacity depends on the materials type and associated equipment type.Generally determine the specification depending on the loading capacity(matte),specifications in common use are 10t、20t、30t、50t、80t、100t etc..Our company can design and produce different specification converter based on customer’s actual demand.
