According to foreign media reports, Freeport-McMoRan Copper and Gold and Indonesia Antam company agreed to study the possibility to build a copper smelting factory on Monday, in order to comply with Indonesian new ore export ban rules.
Market widespread concerns about the influence of these rules to mining industry, and further weaken the confidence in Indonesia economy.Two weeks after the ban on exports and export tariffs, government officials said, ore and concentrate outlet near standstill.
Rozik Sutjipto,the chief executive of freeport Indonesia, said on Monday that the two companies have agreed study the possibility to build a factory that worth $2.2 billion,the production capacity is 300000 tons.Construction site is one of the four areas, one is Gresik in eastern Java, this region has a refinery already.Another area is Papua, which located in the east remote areas.
Sutjipto said,the study will take three months.
Indonesia ore export ban rules purport to alter its mode of economic growth depending on export raw materials.
