Sintering machine speed and feed layer height can directly affect sintering process and product quality. Sintering machine speed just can be adjusted within a narrow range; it depends on the vertical sintering speed of feed layer, its purpose is to ensure that the sintering end point can end in a predetermined region. During the sintering process, mixture feed layer sintering from top to down, burning layer thickness direction movement speed is called the vertical sintering speed of feed layer, expressed by mm/min.
Feed layer thickness has a great influence on heat utilization during the sintering process and sinter yield. If the feed layer is too thick, feed layer resistance increases, the water vapour condensation aggravates, it is easy to make the gas permeability of feed layer become bad, then reduce the vertical sintering speed. Sintering with thin feed layer can increase sintering speed and machine speed, but because of the increase of the bad intensity sintering ore, yield rate must reduce. So, suitable feed layer height must be unified considered depends on the high quality and high yield principle. For example, raw material condition, equipment capacity and so on. When the gas permeability of feed layer and the draft inducing capacity are good, you can consider increasing feed thickness or the machine speed to increase the production of sintering machine.
In the practical operation, we usually don’t advocate with adjusting feed layer thickness to control sintering end point, should with adjusting machine speed to control sintering process. Only when the gas permeability of feed layer changes greatly, adjusting machine speed can’t meet the requirement, we can adjust the thickness of feed layer. Also in order to stabilize sintering operation and prevent unsteady substantial adjustment, adjusting interval time can’t less than 10 mints, each machine speed adjustment can’t be higher than the range of + / - 0.5 m/min.
